Now that mother nature is being much kinder to us, you may start to see melting snow on rooftops. Be sure to check that your ceiling areas and attic spaces remain dry during this crucial transition period into early spring. More than likely, we will experience back and forth freezing and melting periods well into April.
Ice Dams: What can cause attics to be too warm?
- The sun-however, snow covered roofs reflect most of the sun’s radiant energy
- Lack of insulation
- Lack of proper air sealing
- Lack of attic venting-high near the ridge AND/OR low near the eaves
- Air movement blocked from eaves to ridge (roof unable to breathe properly)
